FEATURED: ” Happy Birthday Kev ” Tribute to a great guy

Thursday’s Child

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

I’m a Thursday’s child so for obvious reasons I focus on: Thursday’s child has far to go. What does it mean? Traditionally, it was viewed as very positive… living a long fruitful life, having a lot of potential, having talent, and being successful. It could mean they travel far too… after all, all these things pertain to me. 😉

Of course the modern-day being what it is, some folks have put a huge damper put on Thursday’s child (Bloody contemporaries!) stating things like, Thursday’s children are those who have lots of obstacles to overcome; they may have some kind of handicap; are in for a long hard life or rough childhood… Oh, hang on a minute… I can relate to all those too! Guess it’s not so bad after all. Rofl! 😀

I have no regrets about being a Thursday’s Child, and neither did David Bowie:

There have been several novels titled, Thursday’s Child as well… Mm, I should look into these, might find something else I can relate to. 😉

I guess all us Thursday Child’s will have our own interpretations depending on how deeply we read into it… or not. At the end of the day, (This is where my realist side kicks in.) it’s simply a delightful nursery rhyme which was originally written to help children learn the days of the week. 😀

Oh, I almost forgot: Happy Birthday to Me… Thursday’s Child!

5th December 1963

I’m a Thursday’s child, too. I’ve definitely travelled far – going to ignore the contemporary interpretation!
